NAMES OF HORSES IN CORRAL NEXT DOOR TO SIBLINGS

NUTMEG

LADY

GINGER

NAVAJO

The Blais family may have had up to 8 horses at one point in the corrals next to The 461. They did not own all the horses, they boarded some. Among the ones they did own, I believe, were NUTMEG, LADY, GINGER, and NAVAJO.

I had an image I intended to use here. I’ll add it if I find it again.

TYPES/BREEDS OF DOGS WE’VE HAD

FIRE CARRIAGE PROTECTOR

SHORT-LEGGED HARE HUNTER

LONG-MUZZLED GERMAN PINSCHER

BEAGLE MIX

Way back, the siblings had a Dalmatian (FIRE CARRIAGE PROTECTOR), the Nickelsons of Potowomut Road had a few Basset Hounds (SHORT-LEGGED HARE HUNTER) and I believe both the Hughes and Nickelson families had a Dobermann (LONG-MUZZLED GERMAN PINSCHER). The siblings also had Edgar, a BEAGLE MIX. Edgar is pictured below hanging with his humans and spending time in the yard.

THINGS CLAIRE KNITTED FOR US

NECK WARMER

HAND WRMNG POCKETS W THUMBS

PATE COVER

AFGHAN

Claire was a bit of a knitting machine. She made multiple scarves (NECK WARMER), mittens (HAND WARMING POCKETS WITH THUMBS), hats (PATE COVER), and AFGHAN blankets. I’m surprised I didn’t come across a photo of her working on any of these so I’m re-posting a photo of her napping with one of her creations (plus a cat). Do you have any photos of your knitted (or crochetted) items you’d like to share? She once made me orange mittens with my initial on them. She then made similar ones for Jackie Blais, because she didn’t have enough kids of her own to make stuff for apparently.

FAMILY MEMBER DISLIKES

OPENING MUSIC TO STAR TREK

WET TOILET PAPER

WARM BEER

TEACHERS

The opening theme music to Star Trek is powerful. Catherine dislikes its power and intensity. I remember Gil often professed his dislike for wet toilet paper and warm beer. He had a third item that usually completed this list, does anyone remember it? And… apparently Bob didn’t like teachers.

  1. I’m getting better at these! Got this on the first go!
I don’t remember a horse named Navajo. Maybe Nutmeg’s foal?
Loved the pictures of Edgar! Best dog of all time!
I’m not home but have afghans that mom knitted. Will share pics when I get home.

    • Can’t say I remember the horse specifically but I am/was aware that one horse was named Navajo.

  2. Had no idea there were that many horses next door.
I got trip up on fire carriage protector. Didn’t think of a dog.
Things Mom knitted- a doggie sweater for Edgar.

  3. Mom made more than one sweater for Edgar. We’d put it on him and he would go out and come back without it! She finally gave up!
