ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS OF NEXT GEN AND BEYOND
MATUNUCK
Jaycie attends MATUNUCK Elementary School in South Kingstown.

STERLING COMMUNITY
Haven attended STERLING COMMUNITY School in Sterling, CT for a year or two of her elementary grades.

NORTH SMITHFIELD
Cecil attends NORTH SMITHFIELD Elementary School.

SHAKER LANE
Ellie and Abbie attend SHAKER LANE Elementary School in Littleton, MA. I could be wrong here. Littleton has two elementary schools but I’m quite certain they attend Shaker Lane.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS OF COUSINS
GREENBUSH
Amber, Sheila, and Kevin attended GREENBUSH Elementary School in West Warwick.

FOREST PARK
Sarah, Mike, Rick, and Dave attended FOREST PARK Elementary School in North Kingstown. Molly and Megan did as well, but they’re in the next generation so they don’t get included in the image compilation.

WICKFORD
Tom and Jennifer attended the now-closed WICKFORD Elementary School in North Kingstown.

WASHINGTON OAK
Megan and Brian attended WASHINGTON OAK Elementary School in Coventry.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS OF SIBLINGS & THEIR SPOUSES
STONY LANE
Russ, Nancy, and Bill attended STONY LANE Elementary School. Russ only attended for about two weeks when the school first opened at the end of the 1970/1971 school year. The following fall he went to Davisville Middle School (it may have still been Davisville Jr. High then).

I recently had one of those moments when you suddenly realize something that should have been really quite abundantly clear for a long time: when Stony Lane School opened it did so at the same time as Quidnessett and they were considered “twin” schools as they had the same floor plan and were built at the same time. I thought I remembered Pat and Pam Sherlock being chosen to cut the ribbon to open Stony Lane School. I believe I was a little jealous. The thing that I just realized recently was that they were chosen because they are twins. But… when I started looking for information on the school, I found a newspaper article that indicates some other kid (singular kid) cut the ribbon. Maybe there were two ribbon cuttings, the first when it opened for the last 10 days of the school year and another in the fall when it opened “officially”? I wonder if Bill or Russ remember any of these details.

NOTES:
- Quidnessett had some building delays and did not open at the same time as Stony Lane.
- I had no idea we were on double-sessions for three years!
- The first article makes reference to “Hoskins School” – I have never heard of that school, does anyone know where it was?
- And, glaziers strike, really?
PEARY
Jan and John both attended PEARY School (Full disclosure – I am unsure if it was for elementary or junior high school). The article portions below are from the January 11, 1989 edition of the Standard-Times.

LIPPITT
Jim attended Lippitt Elementary School in Warwick. Below is a photo of Jim (on the left) and his friend Bob. Jim doesn’t know who the girl between them is.

SAINT JOSEPH
Chris attended SAINT JOSEPH School in Danbury, CT.

SCHOOLS TAUGHT AT
BEAVER RIVER
Esther (Gil’s mother) taught at the BEAVER RIVER School.

QUIDNESSETT
Jan spent the majority of her teaching career at QUIDNESSETT Elementary School in North Kingstown.

COVENTRY
I don’t know if it was called “Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School of Coventry” when Megan taught math there but, she taught at the COVENTRY middle school on Foster Drive for a couple years before opening Anchor Gymnastics.
I thought I had a good lead on a CMS yearbook from when Megan taught but alas, it fell through, so no fun photos or graphic.

HAMILTON
Jan taught at HAMILTON Elementary School in North Kingstown near the end of her career.

Three of these four groupings definitely have some overlap. Jan taught at Quidnessett, Catherine attended Quid as a student. As previously mentioned, Sarah, Mike, Rick, Dave, Molly, and Megan all attended Forest Park but they are from two different generation groupings. Tom and Jenny both attended Wickford Elementary, Jan taught there. I didn’t include Davisville Elementary but a number of Hillman siblings went there as well as Catherine. And to cap this off, if you want to be technical, Megan taught at Coventry Middle School and I went to the school when it was West Bay Vocational School as part of a dual track program at North Kingstown High School. I need someone to make a Venn diagram, a spreadsheet at the very least!

As you can see, I had this crazy idea this week to use photos of the various schools with images of the kids that attended at about the age at which they attended…SUCH A TIME DRAIN.
Hope you enjoyed them – can you guess which ones I did last and just threw together?
I initially had Wawaloam Elementary School in the “cousins” grouping but lost steam trying to find picts of Lowell and Chelsea to use. Wickford was my backup and I found pictures of Tom and Jen first.
Also, BONUS INFO: Mary went to St. Edward’s, Weeden St, Pawtucket, RI. I had hoped to include this in the puzzle but I only got the info confirmed this morning (too late for press). Looks like that school closed permanently in 2017 due to a fire? But I also seem to think it was purchased and renovated and turned into condos. I’m not sure, this is my quick look at it.
Didn’t get it this week. Kept trying different combos of schools but never got it. It thought some might be towns or places so never got the right categories of schools.
Love these pics!
Don’t feel bad – I create them with trickery in mind. I walk a fine line of wanting people to solve these and wanting to throw them off track.
