MATERIALS USED IN JAY’S PUPPETS
FLEECE
WOOD
FOAM
IN 67, GREAT FUTURE WAS HERE
It is apparent that Jay uses quite a bit of fleece in the making of his puppets. I talked with him and confirmed he also uses wood and foam. An iconic line from 1967’s film The Graduate tells us that there was a great future ahead in PLASTICS. I think some of those eyeballs might be plastic.

STREETS WE CURRENTLY LIVE ON
THINK MONKEYS AND WEASELS, PROBABLY HAS FRINGE ON TOP, LOOK FOR THE ______ LABEL, WIRE
Megan, Adam and family live on MULBERRY — unsure if there are any monkeys or weasels running around the bushes in their neighborhood, but there could be. The Massachusetts Nickelsons live on SURREY. Since it’s not Oklahoma(!), you might not find fringe on top of anything. Catherine and Sam actually live on North UNION — I know, this is why some of you didn’t get this group — and I wonder how many got the “union label” clue. Matt and Lindsay live on Wire (which I suppose shouldn’t be ruled out as a material used in puppet construction).

Sorry for the delay this morning. I was having a lot of technical difficulties.
Happy Birthday, Norma!!!
Happy Birthday Norma!!! The only one I got this week!
I bombed this week! Got the birthday girl! Thought one was puppets just couldn’t get the right combination.
Should of gotten props but messed up on the puppet materials so ran out of guesses. Streets, I had not a clue!!! Can’t believe you have shots of all the street signs. Did you take them or are they from a map app?
Karen – Google street view.
I was going to ask Matt and Lindsay to take a pic of their street but I ended up waiting too long.
Only got the one about me! A nice birthday surprise! Thanks! Love the picture from the London Zoo!
Norma – the original was really drab. I love finding old public domain resources to work with as I did here. It’s hard to tell but there is text overlaid on the image. The text is also is a public domain item. It’s an article from a Danbury, CT newspaper from the mid-late 1800s. It tells a story about the mishap a circus encounters when transporting a hippopotamus from Buffalo to Detroit. The hippo breaks out of its enclosure and goes overboard into the Detroit River. It’s pretty wild.
When I get home I’m gonna see if I can find that article?
I have it – I can send it to you later.
Also, I love the picture of Norma and Emmy.
I too got Norma! Happy Birthday!!!!!
But no others. I was thinking the puppet materials were some kind of chicken coop materials – with the wire in there, I had chicken wire in my head.
Yeah, I can see that as a group for sure.
Although I was surprised that Jim Rice wasn’t in one of the squares!
Ha! I actually FORGOT this year!
For the uninitiated, Jim Rice’s birthday is today too. I usually wish Norma a Happy Jim Rice’s Birthday Day.
Norma – here’s a link to the article. It’s in the left column of the 2nd page

I’ll see if I can attach a pdf at the end of the blog, if not I’ll email it to you.
No way would I get in a rowboat and go after a hippo!!!!
I wish I could just “like” posts!
I only got the one about Norma. Happy Birthday, Norma.
I thought the wood and wire might have something to do with fencing material.
I know the exact spot on Surrey Road where the picture was taken. It is near the school bus stop.
I’m surprised no one got the props grouping!
